GTA V’s video editor is a PC-only inclusion

The long awaited PC version of GTA V releases soon, and it comes with at least one feature that is as of right now, exclusive. It comes with a built-in video editor mode that enables you to record footage, edit it together and then upload it to Youtube. Nice.

The editor mode is a suite of tools that allow for the making of simple videos using footage captured in game, and further there’s a slightly more advanced version called the director mode.

Director mode lets you stage scenes, choosing locations, characters from the story mode, time of day, weather and so on, and then lets you shoot scenes from your own made-up action movies. It even lets you add things like explosive punches and low gravity. You can also change the angle on shots to get the right view of every bit of chaos that unfolds.

GTA V is far from the first game of this style that has this sort of mode; I remember Driver 2 having its own video editor mode back in the days of the first Playstation and it was a lot of fun to use. However given that I did enjoy that one so much as a child, you can upload clips after editing and just the fact that this is included makes me just want GTA V even more.

And Rockstar’s even uploaded a video to help explain the mode a lot better, so go check it out if you’re as interested as I am.
