If you love the game Killing Floor you’re in for a treat this Halloween. Tripwire Interactive are releasing two new maps as well as a modpack for use with one of them.
Club Cladestine is a map themed around a nightclub, but nothing there is alive or dancing. Instead you’ll find that torture devices are littered around the place and have been put to good use already by the club’s zombie residents.
Devil’s Dollhouse is the other map, and the one that the Toy Master modpack is intended for use with. The modpack replaces the usual enemy Zeds with twisted porcelain toys who have a similar bloodlust and need to murder you.
This is on top of several DLC packs that are being offered for sale containing new weapons and characters to play as. Killing Floor was also one of the games in the recent Free Weekend promotion and thus is currently reduced by 75% if you’ve not bought the game already. There’s another free weekend for it planned near Halloween as well probably in an attempt to stir up some attention around the new maps so keep your eyes peeled for that.
As part of their Free Weekend promotions, Steam is making 10 of their games free to play for 48 hours over this weekend. They’ll unlock from 10am Pacific Time on Thursday, October 16th. After that you’ll have the option to buy them with the promise of substantial discounts to them.

And if you’d prefer to get a game for free entirely, head over to GOG. They’re currently offering a free copy of Alien vs Predator Classic this week if you’re willing to test out the new GOG Galaxy program.
Those of you who love Overkill’s most popular series, take note. From 10am Pacific time/6pm British Standard Time on Thursday, the original Payday: The Heist will be free on Steam for 24 hours. Sweet.
The freebie comes as part of the rewards offered to people who joined the official Payday 2 Steam Group, as Overkill offered tiers based on how many people were joined in the lead up to their ‘Crimefest’ event. The free day was originally meant to be on October 18th, but was brought forward when all the reward goals were met earlier than expected by the devs.
“You guys have made one hell of an effort during the pasts months. Truly, we in the Overkill crew salute you,” they wrote.
Overkill says that we can expect “clear instructions” on how to download the game on the date in question. Eyes on your screens and mice at the ready everyone, we’ve a free game to acquire…
Costume Quest was a small little RPG that took the idea of kids’ imaginations fuelling the ability to change their home-made costumes into powerful entities with which to smack their opponents with. Great idea, good execution but somewhat repetitive after a while.
Now the sequel has been released after having been teased a few months back for an October release and it seems that the time is soon. Costume Quest 2 has been released and from the trailer it seems that the story is that of a kid’s worst nightmare: Halloween has been outlawed! (well, worst besides the cancelling of Christmas) You must travel through time and fight the forces of an evil dentist to save the holiday and the right of children everywhere to consume sugary treats and wear home-made costumes!

Good news if you’re a fan of the video games Disney Interactive makes. A sizeable number of their back catalog has just been released on Steam today, the main ‘jewel’ probably being Epic Mickey 2 – a game that had previously had its PC port cancelled everywhere except parts of Eastern Europe.
It comes as a bit of a surprise, after all the company that made that game, Warren Spector’s Junction Point, was shut down by Disney just after Christmas. That could be blamed on the fact that although Epic Mickey was a loved game, the sequel didn’t do quite as well and neither game really did as well as it had been hoped they would do. I’ve played the first on the Wii, and while it is a wonderful game the controls really could have used some work. Regardless, I’ll probably stick the sequel onto my wishlist.
