Killzone Shadow Fall takes place 30 years after the events of Killzone 3. Set in an era of interplanetary colonization, it focuses on the conflict between the Vektans and the Helghast, two rival colonist factions inhabiting a distant planet. For three decades, both factions have lived side by side, separated by an enormous security wall – but now their cold war is about to go hot. It’s up to Lucas Kellan, a member of the military intelligence unit known as the Shadow Marshals, to try to protect the fragile peace that exists. A new warrior for a new era of war, Kellan 's missions will range from quiet infiltrations to all-out combat. Lucas will need to be methodical and ready to adapt, as any misstep could lead to mutually assured destruction!

shadow fall follows on from its predecessors in many respects, with it keeping the three class system (Assault, Scout and Support) and the same plot line 30 years forward. It was developed with the core principles of: Being an easy game to jump into "from day one or a year after launch", having lots of depth to explore and develop skills, and a game that could expand with the support of the community with DLC.

All abilities and weapons are unlocked from the word go – which allows you to tailor your gaming experience from your first play. The game is mastered by completing skill based challenges, and you won’t be short of those – there’s over 1500 of them shipping with the game! You can specialise your weapons by unlocking weapons accessories, as your progress through the challenges. You can tailor your gaming experience even further with the warzones. Shadow Fall allows you to customise your game by changing missions/maps/weapons/abilities and far more! Although this isn’t the first game to allow such a customised experience but it may well be the first to actively promote the most popular customisations to the Shadow Fall community. They have also announced that they will be following their fan’s lead when creating future DLCs – so if you shout about it, they may well deliver! Not only that but all competitive multiplayer DLC maps will be free! There will also be a season pass (RRP €19.00) loaded with the online expansion pack (released after launch), 3 online co-op map packs and 2 multiplayer expansion pack – which will include things other than maps (but exactly what has yet to be confirmed).

Shadow Fall has recently been announced to be the launch title for the upcoming Playstation 4.
