In a piece of news that’s sure to excite fans of the movie, on October 21st 2015 the DeLorean time machine from the Back to the Future films will be made available as a playable car in Rocket League.
Really.

A game about cars playing football doesn’t exactly sound like the sort of game the DeLorean would be good for, but Rocket League is less about the car football and more about zipping around and flying through the air flipping over and over and getting into heated competition with your friends and fellow players so honestly, it fits for Rocket League.
Writing on the Playstation Blog, developers Psyonix revealed their joy at getting the iconic vehicle added to their game: “We used to fantasise and joke about having the DeLorean Time Machine in our game months before it even came out. We were all such huge Back to the Future fans here at Psyonix, that it was one of the few ‘Holy Grails’ we had hoped for besides having a hit game.”
They’ve worked hard to create the vehicle’s classic feel in game, with folding jet wheels and a rocket trail that resembles ‘burnt rubber’. The DLC will be made available soon for $1.99 or regional equivalent.

Special collector editions of games nowadays tend to vary based on the studio, but you can usually expect a number of things. Some have special statues, others artbooks and soundtracks. You can count on there actually being a physical copy of the game inside the box though can’t you?
Seems not. People who ordered the PC limited edition of the Might & Magic Heroes VII were surprised to receive their deliveries with a big hole where their copy of the CD and DVD ought to have been. And it’s not as if it was just what they expected – the limited edition was advertised to contain a physical copy of the game among other things.

A lengthy thread on Ubisoft’s message boards revealed in time that it wasn’t a few isolated incidents either, it seems a lot of people who ordered this version in the US were missing their physical game discs. It was eventually discovered that Ubisoft had changed the description of the game after a number of people had already purchased it, meaning that people had paid out for something that they hadn’t then gotten. The new description made it clear that the limited edition would now ship out with a digital copy of the game – not a physical copy as you would expect from a collector’s edition.
Ubisoft then refused to refund customers who were upset and felt cheated out of a copy of the game they now didn’t have. Because the limited edition was now listed as having come with a digital download Ubisoft refused to refund the money, as the code could have already been used. However, not happy with this the customers took to Reddit to complain and the attention it gathered caught Ubisoft’s attention and made them change their minds on the matter
Ubisoft regrets any confusion created by the marketing materials from our Might and Magic Heroes VII Collector’s Edition. We understand that some customers in North America were not aware the Collector’s Edition delivered digital versions of the game and soundtrack. Ubisoft apologizes for any frustration and disappointment resulting from these items being in digital format vs. physical format. We are accepting complete refunds from any dissatisfied customers and will be providing a compensation plan of one complimentary digital PC game for consumers that have already purchased the Might and Magic Heroes VII Collector’s Edition from the Uplay shop in North America. Affected consumers will be able to pick one game of their choice from a selection including Far Cry 4, Assassin’s Creed Rogue, The Crew, Toy Soldiers: War Chest Hall of Fame Edition and Zombi.” We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope the above statement will help to clarify the current situation.
Unfortunately this does mean that the customers will not be getting their physical game copies after all, but at least people are getting their money back.

Divinity: Original Sin is getting its big Enhanced Edition soon, and a date has finally been announced. It’s coming out on October 27th.
The game will be free if you already own the game on PC, adding a whole bunch of things including controller support which will go down well with quite a few people. The same date does apply to just more than the PC version of the Enhanced Edition (it’s also releasing on the same day for Playstation 4 and Xbox One) but it is certainly the one that will see present PC owners magically receiving the update to their game without lifting a finger (unless you manually update).
Divinity’s sequel game meanwhile has been doing pretty well, raising four times the target on its Kickstarter campaign.

Announcing backwards compatibility was always going to be a good move for Microsoft and the Xbox One. Being able to play the last console’s games on the current-gen console keep players happy and makes them more likely to get your latest piece of hardware. Now Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has put forward the idea that he’d like to get 360 games working on PC as well.
Speaking with Gizmodo Brazil, Spencer said “[Xbox games on Xbox One is] something I want to do, but it is a matter of priority. I would love to have the ability to play Xbox 360 on PC at some point too, so we have different things we have to think about when we plan these things. But it would be great to have support for original Xbox games. So yes, I want it, but we have many other things we want to do as well.”
This would mean that disced 360 games would work on your gaming rig, as well as digital editions possibly being made available for download too. Given that Microsoft were all about integration of PC and console with Windows 10, this doesn’t surprise me too much.
At the very least, if it does happen there’ll be quite a few very happy gamers.

Chaos Reborn made headlines as it had the big name of Julian Gallop behind it, and the funding came through quite swiftly and thoroughly. Now after having been out in Early Access for a while, the game will finally see full release on Steam at the end of this month.

Snapshot Games have announced that Chaos Reborn will release fully on October 26th, with version 1.0 coming with an extensive tutorila and an upgraded interface to allow new players to get into the game as quickly as possible.
Higher tier Kickstarter backers will also see their rewards fully realised at last. Wizard Lords will be able to set the equipment and spells of AI wizards defending regions in single player Realms mode, while Wizard Kings will be allowed to design their own Realms with the use of a bespoke designer tool, implementing challenges and rewards in their designs. There are also demigod and god roles to be fulfilled, allowing the divine players to bestow blessings onto members of guilds who have pledged loyalty to them. However, these rewards will not be fully implemented upon release and will take up to a further two months to be released.
“It has been an intensive year and a half of development,” writes Gollop, “but we have a great game ready to ship.”
