Seems that Hearthstone has made the digital collectable card game market attractive again. The latest developer who is planning to jump into the market is Runescape developer Jagex with their new game Chronicle: Runescape Legends.
The game will be set in the Runescape world of Gielinor and will be played out on the pages of what is being called a ‘living book’. The studio also say that it will allow players to “craft their own miniature RPGs” against computer-controlled enemies before striking out into PvP combat against other players; which kind of confuses me a bit as I can’t see how that would work with the collectable card element of the game. There must be some plan in place though, as the quest and the fact that pieces seem visible in screenshots means that Jagex are trying to make this a unique game in its own right.

Following the game’s public reveal on October 11th at RuneFest, James Sweatman the Lead Designer said, “We’ve been quietly developing Chronicle: Runescape Legends since the start of the year to ensure that it’s not only a fun and compelling player experience, but one still very much interwoven into the rich lore of Runescape.”
The new game is being developed for PC, Mac, tablets and mobiles and will have more information release in the coming months before releasing sometime in 2015.

It looks like the villains of Gotham will terrorize Jim Gordon and the GCPD for a little while longer.
Fox just announced that it has ordered six more episodes of the freshman series, raising its first season order to a total of 22 episodes.
While the Batman prequel series slipped slightly in the ratings in its second week, the show also enjoyed one of the fall’s strongest premieres.

This coming Wednesday, the 15th of October, Carbine studios will be taking Wildstar offline for up to 24 hours. No, the game isn’t dying. In fact, Carbine is migrating to Megaservers. So, what does this mean for the average player? Its pretty simple really: The servers for each region and gametype are being consolidated. Going forward the North Americas will have one PvE Megaserver and one PvP Megaserver. The same is true for the EU. All characters of level 3 or more will be moved along with all their gear. Additionally, guilds, arena teams, social circles, mail and auction items will also be moved. It’s important to note that if you have a level 2 or 2 character that has not been logged into the game within the last 30 days, it will be deleted. Thats the technical details out of the way. So what else is happening?
Due to the loss of game time, Carbine will be rewarding all players with a month’s worth of Boom-Boxes. You can open one per day, and Boom-Boxes contain rare items such as mount customizations, gear, housing decorations and the like. Additionally, all players are getting one day of free game tame, to be credited no later than the end of October. With the move comes the possibility of identical names, so Carbine will be prompting players to add a surname to their characters the first time they log into the new Megaservers. As a happy bonus, if you love your character’s gear, but not their name after 400 hours of gameplay, you will be able to change your name at that time as well. Not that I plan on renaming Shelbybot. That would never happen, because that name isn’t stupid at all. This also extends to Guild names, since it’s entirely likely two guilds on the old servers had the same name. Carbine has also created special channels for players transferring to the Megaservers from French or German realms.

The Megaserver transition is intended to increase server capacity and make it easier to group with friends and guildmates for raiding and PvP. Some see this as an admission on Carbine’s part that WildStar is dying, while others see it as a smart move given that Guild Wars 2 has already made the jump and WoW looks like following suit soon.

Well, here’s an update we didn’t really see coming. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, an FPS game, has had Music Kits added in. Custom packs of music to replace the ambient music in different parts of the game from main menu to death cam. They’re all available on the store, with a variety of artists and composers having worked on the nine packs to make music tailored for CS:GO.

Each Music Pack contains music for the following screens of the game:
- Main Menu
- Round Start
- Round End
- Bomb Planted
- Bomb Warning
- Won Round
- Lost Round
- Round End Warning
- Death Camera
They also play a special anthem to all players if you score MVP.
All packs are now available to purchase on the Steam Market from between $8.45 to $19.00.

Another space-based game with a crowdfunding page has been pulled days before it reached completion. This time it’s ship-bridge-perspective RTS game Flagship, being developed by twin developers Brad Jeffery and Matt J.
The Kickstarter for the project had 5 days to go and had reached just over half of the £95,000 goal which is the one of the reasons the decision was made to pull it now rather than wait until the end of the process.

“It’s looking like the campaign isn’t going to turn around, so rather than drag this out for another 5 days we’re going to end it now. I know this will disappoint many of you, and for that we are very sorry. This has been a heartbreaking process for us.” Brad announced in an update to the Kickstarter page.
He went on to thank everyone who had already backed, all who had covered the game or promoted it in any way and everyone who had in any way supported them with the process of trying to get the game funded. However, this doesn’t spell the end of Flagship entirely as the two are not willing to give up on it fully.
“Flagship is still our dream game, and we’re not giving up on it. One day you’ll get your ship.”
Kickstarters do usually see an enormous pick up in the amount donated to a project during the last few days of the time limit set, so if the project hadn’t been pulled there is a chance Flagship could have been funded. However it wouldn’t have been a guarantee, and I wish them luck in trying to make Flagship a reality through some other method.
