The Guild Wars 2 blog has been updated with a post by Mike Ferguson that lays out how the world vs world PvP will look in Guild Wars 2 and should get people REALLY excited! Think siege engines, capture points, resource control, castle keeps and persistent two week events and you start to see an emerging picture of how this innovative system will work.
The WvW system will pit three worlds of up to 100 players each against one another on maps of massive scale. The idea is that no one team will be so dominant that the other side is obliterated. It affords the opportunity for the other two teams to band together to take down a more powerful foe.
We dreamed of a game where players could work together to capture objectives on the battlefield, like keeps and towers, claiming them for their guilds, then upgrading fortifications before defending them against hordes of attackers. With players from three different servers fighting each other, we knew that we would need a lot of different areas for them to fight over, and we wanted to have plenty of locations for guilds of all sizes to claim as their own. With this in mind, we created a number of different objectives that are designed to be captured and contested by large groups, small groups, or even just a few players.
Players will not only be taking on each other in these massive-scale battles but will also have to take on guards, bosses and more in an effort to gain control of the keeps and towers. In addition, smaller keeps will be included and less protected resource camps which will end up playing a huge role in the WvW system as resources are needed to build siege machines and repair damaged keeps.
Players will be able to construct machines to help them capture strategic points and to lay siege to their enemies. Among these are: Trebuchets, Arrow Carts, Catapults, Ballistae and Siege Golems.
As the battles last up to two weeks, teams will be able to upgrade their keeps by making more powerful NPC guards, walls and more. They will be able to construct persistent anti-siege measures like boiling oil pots and teams will be able to hire bands of mercenary fighters.
For instance, you might help a group of ogres protect their camp against constant harpy assaults. In return, your new ogre allies will go rampaging toward the nearest enemy objective or send out patrols to help you hold on to your territory. These factions won’t fight for you indefinitely, but they can help turn the tide of battle, so you’d be wise to recruit their aid whenever possible!
Teams will also face off to capture and hold the Orb of Power in their keep's special altar. Getting the orb will be no easy task as teams will have to take down an uber-boss in the form of the Keeper of the Orb.
Any player will be able to take part in these battles as players will be automatically leveled to 80 to take part and will be able to work to upgrade weapons and gear during the course of these epic struggles.
Character level adjustments have a limit, however. The level-adjustment system won’t let a level 1 character go head-to-head against a level 80 character with much chance of victory—a level 80 character is still going to have more bonuses on their gear and access to a full complement of utility and elite skills that players just don’t have at lower levels. This is not to say that the high-level character will one-shot the level 1 player, but they will have a clear advantage.
There is SO much more to read so be sure to head to the Guild Wars 2 blog to feast your eyes.
Stephane, from ANet posted a new support post and he needs your help!
We are continually updating our systems to make sure they are secure. Sometimes it’s a change to what information you enter, but most often it’s what happens behind the scenes after you click “Log In.” As part of our server infrastructure, we’ve recently rolled out a new security system and would like to give you the opportunity to test it. If you want to help us with this, here’s what to do:
1. Create a shortcut icon for your Guild Wars client
2. Right-click and go to Properties
3. In the Target line, add the following text after file path: “/newauth”
Note: Exclude the quotation marks and add a space between it and the previous text (see picture in attachment)
Note 2: if you get an error message saying “not a valid target location”, make sure that you put the target line between double-quotes before adding /newauth
4. Make sure you can log in to Guild Wars and do some basic things like map travel, missions, checking your storage, and making sure your character data is saved if you log out and back in again
5. Keep playing Guild Wars by using the new system with this shortcut (if you’re not getting any problem)
At most, you might notice a slight pause while the new system processes your log-in information. Otherwise the system should be transparent. We would like you to keep playing the game using this new system, as it’ll allow us to gather useful data over the course of a long period of time. If you experience any issues, please let us me know via a private message with your account name and a description of what you noticed.

So yeah, lets give this a go and help the guys out
Now, I am very bored… I'll be the first to admit it, I am bored of Guild Wars (I really want to fill my Hall of Monuments, but I can't bring myself to do it *sigh*)… I am bored of World of warcraft, I am bored of Star Trek Online (sorry Elk) and if I could afford a second monthly fee (I'm locked into WoW to get Diablo 3 for free, probably a bad deal to be honest, but meh) I would be playing EvE Online again as the latest expansion looks fekin sweet!
Now there are lots of Free to Play game now and I'm slowly trying them all (and my hard drive is now groaning under the weight of them too) and the latest F2P I was planning on trying was the age old classic, Lineage 2. Now I haven't played Lineage 2 since Feb 2008, so now its Free to Play, I figured I'd give it another go and this is where my new Guild Wars 2 fear comes in…
Now, if you don't know what Pando Media Booster is, heres the official blerb:
Pando Media Booster (PMB) enables publishers of large media such as games and videos to deliver content to users in a reliable, fast and efficient manner. Running as a secure client-side application, Pando Media Booster intelligently delivers small pieces of the media file from multiple sources; CDN servers as well as other users who consume the same content ("Peer Cloud").
Now, my reaction to this piece of **** software would have too many asterisks (although I don't mind swearing on the new TGH, theres a limit to even how much I can swear…) as I hate this software and so do a LOT of people as its Peer to Peer element is well known for not only working, but working too well and destroying epoples internet connections while it streams the game files from patching…
Now I know I'm going on here, but back to my point! I went to install Lineage 2 this morning to give it another go and got THIS message:
Now as you can see in the last line of the paraghraph, "In the future, NCsoft may use Pando Media Booster on other NCsoft products for thier installations and updates."
Now if this includes Guild Wars 2, I won't buy it, simple as that
