Titanfall Gets Co-Op Horde Mode

Titanfall_wallpaper2560x1440

According to Respawn Entertainment, the “biggest” update for Titanfall is on it’s way. And it will include some interesting new additions.

To start with, players that are all about competitive play will now have a Ranked Play mode that will give you challenges and rate you on a 3 star system based on your performance in each match. The real meat of the patch, however, is the new Frontier Defense mode. Frontier defense is a horde mode style wave defense. You can join forces with three other players and fight to defend an objective against waves of AI opponents. Players will be able to change loadouts mid-match at new Loadout Crates as well as raining death from above after death, as they return to the battlefield in a dropship. Respawn promises new, never before seen enemy types in Frontier Defense as well. Suicide Spectres, Nuclear Titans, ranged Mortar Titans and more will do their best to make sure you and your teammates have a bad day.

In addition to the new modes, there are new Titan OS voices coming, as well as Private Match Burn Cards, new Titan Insignias and the ability to bring up a full screen minimap. Two new game modes, Deadly Ground and Marked For Death Pro were also announced. Deadly Ground sees the floor covered in deadly electric fog, forcing pilots to use their wall running skills wisely. Marked For Death Pro is a classic round-based version of Marked For Death. A host of other improvements are being added to the back-end of the game as well.

Are you excited to fall again? Or are you over the giant mech/pilot parkour fest?

Game Trailer: Dragon Age: Inquisition Trailer – The Hero of Thedas

A new trailer for the latest Dragon Age has just been released, so as to keep the interest high until the game’s release which has been delayed a little bit.

It shows an awful lot of cutscenes and not too much gameplay, but it does give a little bit of story about the Inquisitor for those who are interested. Either way, it looks and sounds quite interesting, so it does its job nicely.

Check it out below:

Jagex to make collectable card game; Chronicle: Runescape Legends

Seems that Hearthstone has made the digital collectable card game market attractive again. The latest developer who is planning to jump into the market is Runescape developer Jagex with their new game Chronicle: Runescape Legends.

The game will be set in the Runescape world of Gielinor and will be played out on the pages of what is being called a ‘living book’. The studio also say that it will allow players to “craft their own miniature RPGs” against computer-controlled enemies before striking out into PvP combat against other players; which kind of confuses me a bit as I can’t see how that would work with the collectable card element of the game. There must be some plan in place though, as the quest and the fact that pieces seem visible in screenshots means that Jagex are trying to make this a unique game in its own right.

Following the game’s public reveal on October 11th at RuneFest, James Sweatman the Lead Designer said, “We’ve been quietly developing Chronicle: Runescape Legends since the start of the year to ensure that it’s not only a fun and compelling player experience, but one still very much interwoven into the rich lore of Runescape.”

The new game is being developed for PC, Mac, tablets and mobiles and will have more information release in the coming months before releasing sometime in 2015.

Unity might be looking for a buyer

Recent;ly there seems to have been a lot of sales of smaller but successful companies to the bigger dominating forces in the media. And if rumours are to be believed, Unity might soon be one of them.

Unity is currently valued at somewhere around $2 billion according to VentureBeat. Inside sources say that the company has been courting the likes of Google to possibly prepare for a sale. There’s been at least one potential buyer they’ve had serious talks with and presentations given to more besides.

Unity of course is a very popular games engine that appeared in 2004 and due to its ability to allow games to be programmed for multiple different platforms, it has especially gained favour in the growing market of indie game developers. Heck, you could even argue that it helped the rise of the indies in recent years.

At the moment Unity is keeping quiet on whether or not there will be a sale of the engine to another company.

The Crew’s release date is set: December 2nd.

Today on their special site for The Crew game, Ubisoft announced the release date for all platforms as well as outlining the plans for another console closed beta before then.

The Crew will be officially released on December 2nd it seems across all platforms. This they say will give extra time to “allow for a second closed console beta to be held, giving even more players the opportunity to experience the game”. This will give time for them to collect more user feedback like they have done with previous betas before the full release of the game.

The Crew’s release was originally set for a November 11th date, but feedback from the last three Betas means that Ubisoft have decided to take the time to make some changes based on what users said they would like to see. Among the changes are the ability to remove the HUD if wanted, some tweaks to enemy AI and enhancements to voice-chat.
