Rainbow Six could be going to Japan for the next DLC

Rainbow Six: Siege has one more DLC confirmed to come yet, and from tweets over at Twitter, it looks like it could be taking part in Japan.

The previous three DLC were released fairly evenly spaced, with around three months between each one’s being made available for purchase. The most recent one, Operation Skull Rain, came out on August 2nd so if the schedule keeps on going we can probably expect to hear a lot more official information soon about the forth.

The official Rainbow Six Siege Twitter tweeted out a teaser yesterday though, an image with Japanese text underneath:

Translations vary. Bing suggests “Come, ye and” while Google goes for “time is, come Tareri”. Ubisoft themselves though, publishers of the games, have said that it translates to “Time has come” which we can guess is meant to be the official message of the tweet. Other places have found leaked footage of destructible walls in a map meant to be added in the “Season 4” expansion – all with a distinctly Japanese themed building.

For more official information though, we’ll just have to wait.

After strange tweet, Murray says Hello Games Twitter ‘hacked’

No Man’s Sky didn’t live up to expectations, that much most people agree with. No matter whose fault it was, the game was hyped to hell and back and would have had a difficult time living up to it all in the end. However, earlier today it seemed that Hello Games themselves were regretting No Man’s Sky, tweeting out “No Man’s Sky was a mistake.”

This obviously led to the tweet getting retweeted all over Twitter and a lot of confused, curious and other replies and questions to the account and Hello Games’ Sean Murray. It was Murray who pointed out what some had already guessed – someone had hacked the Twitter account and was posting claiming to be Hello Games.

The interesting bit comes when you realise that the e-mail server had also apparantly been hacked into and e-mail replies being sent out to journalists’ enquiries containing some really odd information. Polygon got one from someone claiming to be Murray saying that not only had he made the tweet, but that Hello Games had “not been coping well” since the game’s release. There is some speculation that the hacker is a disgruntled employee or someone related to Hello Games who was using compromised accounts to access the e-mail server and send the messages, with both Forbes and mashable reporting that Murray has confirmed such to them.

It’s not quite the tweet many were waiting for from the Hello Games Twitter, but at least it livened things up a bit. There could possibly even be more to this than we currently know about. Who knows? Maybe in the next few days someone will step forward to claim responsibility that will surprise us…

… Or maybe it’ll turn out to be the work of a dissatisfied consumer. Who knows?

Gadgetzan might hold Hearthstone’s next expansion

It doesn’t seem that long since Whispers of the Old Gods was gracing our Hearthstone decks with its weird and wonderful corruption, nor climbing the levels of One Night at Karazhan. However, we now have some ideas about what the next expansion could be, and it looks to be based around Gadgetzan.

Given that Gadgetzan is a neutral outpost in the game of WoW where you can often see goblins and gnomes and all that comes with them expect more of the types of cards we got with Goblins vs. Gnomes a few years ago, whcih is good because after it was retired from Standard I’d hoped that Blizzard would rebuild up the number of useable Mechs again eventually.

Ideas for what could be on those cards can be guessed at by the small disclaimer text around the image of the tweet above too: “The word “safe” is not meant to constitute a binding agreement and does not imply safety, security, protection, preservation, peace of mind, confidence, reliability, dependability or trustworthiness. Mayor Noggenfogger is not responsible for any accidents, surgeries, thoughtsteals, mind visions, hellfires, vanishes, whirlwinds, revenges, lightbombs, elemental destructions, excavated evils, consecrations, holy novas, flamestrikes, demonwraths, starfalls, shadowflames, swipes, explosive traps, arcane explosions, ???, DOOM!s, lightning storms, blizzards, twisting nethers and other Acts of Old Gods, magical mayhem or disfigurement that may ensue.”

Of course, Blizzcon is right around the corner so expect to see this expansion make its first appearance there. Can’t wait.

Forza Horizon 3 hack bans hit a little too far

The team behind Forza Horizons 3 has recently gone on a bit of a purge, weeding out a whole bunch of accounts that had been found to be using hacks to up the amount of in-game currency they had on hand. Unfortunately, judging by comments it does seem that a few accounts that were innocent of this were caught in the crossfire. Oops.

Various threads about wrongful bans have been appearing on Reddit, and a few even went to Polygon to break the story of wrongful banning from the server. These aren’t technically permanent bans, although they’re thirty YEARS long so they might as well be. Keep in mind that as well as FH3 being a new game right now, these bans also apply to the Xbox version because the two are now tied together thanks to Microsoft’s bid to link PC and their console together now. So you can see why a wrongful ban would cause quite a bit of anger.

As for how these people innocent got caught up in it? Well, the word from developers Turn-10 is that they were banning those who were hacking the game files in an attempt to get ahead financially in the game, especially because the game’s economy is tied to microtransactions. However, as one wrongfully banned player has mentioned that they had been into the game’s files, but only to get the game to run at 60FPS. So it’s very likely that the ban has been targeting games that the system has detected has had its files touched in some way.

Appeals can be sent by players who feel they were banned wrongfully to the e-mail address forzafb@microsoft.com, and all will be investigated and those found to have not broken any rules should have their bans lifted and access restored to the accounts.

Speaking to Polygon about the bans, Microsoft said: “Last week, we performed a ban of a small group of Forza Horizon 3 players on Windows 10 PCs suspected of using software such as the ‘Forza Horizon 3 trainer’ to hack their profiles and affect their game saves. We use bans to maintain the integrity of our in-game economy and to preserve gameplay balance for everyone.”
