Blizzard reveal rest of Karazhan cards

The new Hearthstone adventure is coming very soon, and thus Blizzard chose to have a big livestream to reveal all the other new cards we can expect to see played and won during the wings of the adventure.

One of the big themes going on with it are Portal spells, of which we saw the very first with Firelands Portal originally. Each portal seems to have two effects that trigger upon playing, usually combining an amount of damage with a secondary effect and each portal is specific to a certain class.

Check out the new cards below and see if there’s any you want to put into your deck. I’m considering Cat Trick myself…

runic eggarcane anomoly karazhan pompous thespian karazhan netherspite historian karazhan_zoobot pantry spider violet illusionist arcanosmith avian watchermenagerie magiciankarazhan prince malchezaarmoat lurkerkarazhan medivh cardkarazhan atiesharcane giantnightbane templar silvermoon portalkarazhan moonglade portal menagerie wardenmedivh's valet purify priest of the feast onyx bishopspirit claws maelstrom portal wicked witchdoctor swashburgler deadly forkcat trickcloaked huntresskarazhan protect the kingkarazhan fool's baneironforge portalkarazhan silverware golemkarazhan kara kazham

Of all of them to be revealed Fool’s Bane has caused the most discussion over it could be considered OP or not (I really don’t think it is) and I honestly cannot believe that Blizzard is only now using “Swashburglar” as a Minion name.

Soon we shall take these cards into our decks, and I can’t wait.

#Quakecon2016: TES: Legends enters Open Beta; mobile versions confirmed

Digital collectable card games are in right now, especially since Hearthstone became a thing and went on to become yet another popular running game from Blizzard, regularly updated with expansions, adventures and balance nerfs a plenty.

Bethesda have tried their hand at a game now, using their Elder Scrolls property as the basis. Produced by Dire Wolf Digital, The Elder Scrolls: Legends has been in closed beta for a few months now; but it’s finally entered open beta meaning that it’s available now for anyone to download on PC through the Bethesda Launcher (the same one you use to play Fallout Shelter). The game is free-to-play and features rules not unlike Blizzard’s own digital card game. Digmbot tried it out and he loved it.

A full release of the game will be coming later on this year and the game will be available on not just the PC, but also Android, iOS and Mac too.

#Quakecon2016: Demo shows off Corvo’s new powers

Among the things that have already been shwon off at Quakecon this year, was a demo for Dishonored 2 – a Corvo High Chaos one.

For those not in the know, a High Chaos run in the previous entry meant that you solved problems as quickly and directly – which often meant a lot of killing of those in your way. Needless to say the demo for the new game showed that the same thing goes here.

In it, the powers that Corvo boasted in the last game were on show, but to a much enhanced and extended level. Combat in a high-chaos run can be brutal with them. Shown on screen was the signature ‘Blink’ move in which Corvo teleports himself quickly around, now able to be used to move in closely to a foe and take them from behind or slam into enemies to shove them back. The move also has the “stop time and redirect” improvement taken from the DLC for the last game, The Knife of Dunwall. Bend Time is also still in use, allowing time to be slowed for the set up of devastating combinations of attacks; as well as upgrades allowing Corvo to slowly advance time to better set up those combinations of moves. Possession was also shown off, with upgrades allowing Corvo to transfer from one host to another without needing to unpossess the first.

Dishonored2_BlinkKill_730x411

Of course, the combat moves and his sword and pistol are also useful for dispatching opponents bloodily and spectacularly. Some new non-lethal moves have also been added, such as a combat choke, nonlethal drop and more, for those who prefer to sometimes not go charging in all guns blazing. It’s a good wa to get yourself noticed and killed, you know.

The missions too are slightly different. While they do offer the same choice of approach for taking out targets, just as Dishonored did; there’s now choices of targets where you can do either or. The locations too are striking, with one such location infested with nests of Bloodflies. In that case, you can choose to destroy the nests or simply Blink past them. It’s up to you. Tall buildings surround you and the feel of them is slightly warmer, reflecting that some years have passed since the first game.

So now we’ve seen some of the gameplay for the game, it seems like Arkane are aiming to make the game much more extensive; building upon the foundations put in place by the first Dishonored game. Are you excited to play as both Corvo and Emily? Let us know below!

Karazhan cardback and cards revealed

Hearthstone’s next adventure was announced as One Night in Karazhan, a party themed romp through the titular tower. As with every new adventure there’ll be special winnable cards available through it, and some of those cards have been revealed alongside information about what we can expect.

The adventure sees you arrive at the party only to find that things are going wrong. Naturally, you decide to get to the centre of it all through Hearthstone card battles. The wings are set out as follows:

  • Firstly, the prologue missions that is free for all to play. It will explain where Medivh has gone and what exactly happened to him as well as being where you’ll face Prince Malchezaar.
  • Then you will advance to the Parlor, where you’ll take on a Silverware Golem, the Karazhan chess board from the encounter in WoW and a Magic Mirror that’s begun spitting insults at everyone.
  • Then the Opera Wing will open and showmaster Barnes will ask you to run plays for him, where you’ll face Romeo & Juliet, the Big Bad Wolf and others taken from fairy stories and tales alike.
  • The Menagerie where Medivh’s Curator has decided that the wizard’s various monsters would be much better outside their cages for some reason. Get ready to face the Curator, Nightbane and Illhoof.
  • Finally reaching Medivh’s private quarters will probably be where you’ll face Medivh if he is an opponent, as well as Netherspite and the Shade of Aran.

Buying during the first week of release will also net you an exclusive cardback. As for those cards, they are as follows:

karazhan-moroes karazhan barnes karazhan-book-wyrm karazhan the curator karazhan ivory knight karazhan-malchezaars-imp karazhan enchanged raven karazhan-babbling-book karazhan firelands portal karazhan ethereal peddler karazhan kindly grandmother karazhan big bad wolf

The Progress of BFF or Die

Even when a game is presented on a show, it doesn’t mean that it’s reaching the end of its creation journey. Sometimes when you’ll see is an earlier, still in development stage and that can mean that it’ll be a time before that game you hear about on a show is playable. However, that does leave time for a lot more things to happen during that journey of development.

BFF or Die is one of many games that we’ve had onto our Indie Game Show in the past, and since its appearance it has gone through much and reached many eyes through the attention gathered from various media outlets. Although it still hasn’t set a release date, the friendly co-operative game that emphasizes teamwork will be available on many platforms including PC, Mac, Linux and the two main consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) and has accomplished quite a lot.

Started back in Feb 2015, the game is still in alpha, a version of which is available as a free download from multiple places to try out. Although you can play with just one player, the game is suited more for multiple players and goes all the way up to 4. The point of the game sees you guiding your alien characters through mazes to enable to to keep time travelling forward. While one player will hold the torch light, others will enter the maze to collect what they need while avoiding enemies and being able to make use of decoys, teleportation and more to enable them to escape forward in time. When a friend falls, the level won’t end and you will have to go pick them up – in this game no one must get left behind! So far at events over 800 people have played this game, and their feedback has been used to help shape the game’s development.

BFF or Die has been chosen for inclusion in many displays of video gaming and technology; including within a 9 month long exhibition on the history of video games, showcased as part of the Square Enix Collective and most recently the developers have been invited to the next PAX in Seattle, USA to show off the game as part of the Intel booth at the event. The game has also won Best Multiplayer Game at the UK leg of Game On 2.0.

Having already cleared Steam Greenlight in 6 days, the developers of Honey Tribe Studio recently started up a Kickstarter for the game. Rewards for this include special 3D printed figures, access to an online multiplayer mode before it launches publicly and even tickets to the launch party!

If you’re interested, the game will also be shown a bit nearer to home soon at Multiplay’s Insomnia 58 event. I’ll be there again, and if you fancy giving this game a go come along. Having tried it in the past I’d say it’s certainly worth a go. Otherwise, check out the downloadable alpha in one of the links below.
