Blizzard recently uploaded a video to show off several new things coming to the Heroes of the Storm game, including their new hero Kael’thas. But they also snuck a surprise in there. Watch it, see if you can catch it…
Did you see it? In amongst the new skins and mounts… is another new hero. Diablo III’s Johanna the Crusader, shown in a nonchalant way that you don’t see it coming and need to go back to double-check if you really saw her. She’s even in the video title.
Got to love Blizzard’s style sometimes.
Anyway, here’s the list of new things coming soon:
Ever since Frontier announced that their popular game Elite: Dangerous was due to come to Steam, those people who backed the game on Kickstarter and have bought from Frontier’s own store having been asking the question: will we get Steam keys for the game too?
Originally Frontier wasn’t sure if that was going to be possible but due to high demand they seem to have managed to make it happen. Steam keys will now be offered to all PC players who either got their game access through the Frontier store or as a result of a Kickstarter backing. Result!
Thanks for your patience. We’ll soon offer Steam keys to anyone who bought Elite: Dangerous from our store. https://t.co/TjigCCcHlp
“Thanks for your patience.” said community manager Edward Lewis on the game’s forums. “We’ll soon be offering Steam keys to anyone who bought Elite: Dangerous from the EliteDangerous.com store who would like a key, and to anyone who buys the game from our store in the future. We always appreciate it when you buy direct from our store because it means we can put more into supporting and developing Elite: Dangerous, but we know a number of long-time players and backers like to play through Steam and we think it’s fair everyone has that option, not just new players.”
Nintendo dropped a ton of new information about Splatoon today. Digmbot has it all rounded up for you in less than three minutes. Get educated!
DLC is a short show offering commentary on games and news. Find out what you need to know and then move on. Perfect for the train, car or bathroom. You all know you do it.
There’s a countdown timer currently on the Black Mesa Research Website. It’s got less than 24 hours to go and has switched over to an emergency broadcast signal. It’s not the first time that the emergency broadcast has appeared on the site, having been triggered before at the beginning of this year.
Of course, there’s been rumours that the release of the retail version of the Black Mesa game is due to occur soon on Steam, especially since a Steam Workshop page for Black Mesa has also recently popped up containing seven maps as well as an eighth entitled “asdf0” – computer-speak for “this is a test”. There’s no associated Steam Store page though that can be found. Either way, it’s pretty exciting for fans of the Source engine-based remake of the original Half-Life game.
There’s also an ascii image in the code of the BMRF.us site which some fans hope is a hint at Half-Life 3. Because there’s always some hope that the legend will finally come to pass.
The countdown ends at 9:47 Mountain Standard Time on May 5. Prepare yourself for news.
It’s not unusual for indie game updates to sometimes move in an… unexpected direction. Goat Simulator got an MMO update and indies generally tend to be more free to experiment. However, I doubt anyone saw I Am Bread’s latest update coming…
Today is May the 4th, a day known as Star Wars Day. To celebrate Bossa have applied a free update called Starch Wars to their indie bread-moving game that adds space combat. Really. There’s space combat in a game about a sentient piece of bread with the sole goal of becoming toast.
To access the new content you’ll need to have completed chapter one of the game, after which you’ll be free to jump right in. The battles take place against TIE fighters made of doughnuts and crispbreads, dodging and shooting them down in classic dogfight style.
“Following the destruction of the petrol station, the remaining crumbs of the rebellious fleet have been intercepted as they head to the planet of all-dough-naan. A lone freedom fighter with the call sign bread leader picks up the distress signal and speeds to their aid. And yep, you guessed it; he’s their only hope.”
