HiRez Studios has been pretty successful with their third person action MOBA, SMITE. The game is headed to its World Championship tournament soon, and recently celebrated 10 million players. As a game that focuses on playable gods and demigods from various pantheons around the world, the characters in SMITE are at once familiar and unique. However, they all fall into one of seven pantheons: Chinese, Egyptuan, Greek, Roman, Hindu, Mayan and Norse. That may be about to change however. Recently, Scott Ghandi who works on the Xbox One side of SMITE tweeted out that everyone should tune in to the patch notes today at 4 PM EST for a special surprise. Along with that rather cryptic tweet, he posted this picture:
Each symbol is the emblem of one of the pantheons currently in SMITE. Speculation, of course is that the giant question mark heralds the reveal of a new pantheon to be added to the game. Speculation about a new pantheon has been going on for months, with Smitedatamining.com claiming to have unearthed references to the Celtic pantheon and Morrigan way back in March of this year. While this is, of course, still speculation, signs seem to indicate big changes coming to SMITE.

HiRez Studios has been hard at work this year. New gods, map redesigns and balance changes have made the pace of change in SMITE seem fast and frenetic. And now, the studio has revealed that Joust, the popular 3v3 laning mode is getting an overhaul as well. Drawing inspiration from the Chinese legend of Sun Wukong and the sky palace, the map will be reowrked in a chinese motif. Check it out below!
The Summer Split is over, and the SMITE Pro League Season 2 Summer Finals are upon us. Eight teams from North America and eight from Europe have battled it out since May, and now the top 3 from each division have assembled in Alpharetta, Georgia for their shot a portion of the $171,500 prize pool. In addition, all teams who qualify for the Summer LAN will be invited to the Fall Split. Fall Split will undoubtedly be the most important of the year, getting teams closer to the SMITE World Championships.
The tournament will follow a best of 5 format with quarterfinals, semifinals and a finals set. Teams Titan and AFK Gaming have secured seminfinals slots already based on performance in the Summer Split. The other teams will need to play through all sets to make it to the finals, and the losers of the Semifinals will compete for third place in a best of 3.
Everything kicks off at 1PM EST on July 24 and runs through till July26. The Summer Finals will be broadcast on the official Smite twitch HERE.

A giant fishy monster, the trailer also features a fable involving a character called the ‘Gambler’ whom players are speculating the possible identity of. Some think he’s actually the champion Twisted Fate.
