League of Legends is insanely popular. And like all popular games developer Riot is constantly testing out new ideas to keep the game new and fresh. Their latest brainchild is the “Nemesis Draft”. This mode is a 5v5 match that takes place on the Summoner’s Rift. The catch in Nemesis Draft is that instead of the normal drafting process, each team goes down the line one by one, picking Champions for the opposing team.
Naturally, this leads to some rather…interesting choices. To quote Riot:
“SO.. we’re excited to see how scheming & creative you guys are. Are we about to uncover some diamonds in the rough? Will it be, “Give them all melee champs!” or “Give them all AD so we can just build armour!”. And then the inevitable, “Ok guys. We’ve got 4 junglers and a support.. but so do they! Let’s do this.” I can’t wait. :)”
Things are not all sunshine and roses however, with players repeatedly dodging lobbies to avoid playing with a champion they don’t want. Personally, I think this is an interesting idea and hope that it makes it out of testing and onto the main LoL servers. After all, whats more fun than sticking an enemy team with all junglers and then rolling over them with tanks? Still, the LoL community doesn’t seem to be to happy.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments! And, as a Smite player, let me just say that I have almost no sympathy for the LoL players upset by this. We’ve had a mode like this in Smite for ages now. Suck it up you scrubs.
Evolve is nearing release, so what better time to grab a few games in the closed beta. Our very own Digmbot has been trialling the beta to get a taste of what to expect when the game launches on February 10th; and in this first Youtube video of what should be a several week series, he takes a look at the game in general and some match footage with the Assault class.
If you’re excited about Evolve, keep it locked here or on Digmbot’s channel where there will be a new Evolve video every Monday, Wednesday and Friday leading up the the launch of the game on February 10th! And don’t forget about our exclusive competition for a chance to win your own copy of Evolve on Steam!
Some of you in the US might have seen the price Gamestop is currently offering on their US store page for the upcoming Saint’s Row standalone game: Gat Out of Hell. It’s been up for over a day and seems too good to be true… and it most probably is according to a tweet from someone in Deep Silver’s marketing and PR.
Currently the game is being offered for a staggering $4.99 instead of the RRP of $19.99, and obviously a lot of people have taken them up on this deal. After all, most other retailers have stuck to the RRP and we all know that we love a bargain, given the populariry of indie game bundles and the Steam Sales. However, Will Powers (Deep Silver PR & Marketing) has warned that the orders won’t be honoured.
The deal news had spread like wildfire across the Internet obviously, but although the price remains the same on the Gamestop page Deep Silver have dismissed the offer as fantasy.
Take advantage of the deal if you feel it’s worth a punt, just don’t be surprised if when the game releases you might be required to cough up an extra $15 to get your game.

Deep Silver’s new standalone Saints Row game is due out any day now. And to celebrate, a launch trailer has been released.
Done in the style of a TV infomercial, it’s very, very Saints Row. I won’t spoil it all but it does feature an awful lot of groinal assaults, as well as giving us a peek at what we can assume will be the opening cinematic.
