Far Cry Primal delayed on PC for polish

News of the next Far Cry installment has been being steadily released as the days count down to its release in a few months from now. Set way back in time, Far Cry Primal will be launched in February… but not for PC players now Ubisoft say.

Delays of the PC port aren’t that uncommon with Ubisoft, with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate taking around a month to make it to Pc after its release upon consoles. This time however the delay is just a week, pushing the release into the beginning of March.

“The team are giving themselves that short additional time to ensure that the PC version is as polished and optimised as the other formats,” Ubisoft commented about the delay.

So, a logical and expected reason. Let’s hope that they actually manage it this time to avoid another Unity situation, which didn’t exactly do much to shift the reputation Ubisoft’s got for sloppy PC porting of their games in the recent years. Both Syndicate and the Rainbow Six Siege ports seemed more stable and optimised though, so there is some hope for the extra week to make the difference.

Fingers crossed.

#TheGameAwards: Sequel to Psychonauts announced

In an announcement that few saw coming, news of a sequel to cult favourite game Psychonauts has been announced a short time ago at the Game Awards which are currently ongoing.

Of course, there’s been rumours of a sequel to this game emerging before from different corners of the media and the Internet. What gives this announcement some legitimacy though is that Tim Schafer appeared to confirm that this time it’s true. Of course, we’re unsure about what will be involved in this game or what its plot will be, but hopefully it’ll contain the core of what made the first Psychonauts appealing. No word on platforms either yet.

My fellow gamers, put some fuel into that hype train, it’s time to get it rolling.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate patch 1.21 releases

A new patch for Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed game will go live on PC tomorrow, having already been released for the console versions today.

1.21 will fix a handful of bugs and bring AI improvements and UI tweaks, as well as a few stability boosts. A few missions have seen fixes come in and a bug with the objectives of missions not updating has been applied, along with a fix for an issue that was having an effect on the fast travel. NPCs will now have better reaction times on ground or on vehicles, and pretty much every part of the assassin’s travel moves have had some tweak to make them function better.

asscreed syndicate patch

If you’re curious, the full patch notes are over on the official forum thread, but here’s the stuff that was specifically a fix for the PC version of the game:

  • Fixed infinite loading screen in Sequence 7.
  • Fixed several geometry explosion and missing geometry issues.
  • Fixed various render issues.
  • Fixed several online issues.
  • Minor UI improvements.
  • NPC AI improved globally for reactions.
  • Graphical bugs with lighting, textures and details fixed.
  • Various progression problems fixed in missions.

The patch itself should be around 500MB, so the fixes will quickly be applied once you load up Steam or your game.
