“I’m co-writing the story and I’m producing it,” says Singer. “I’m negotiating to direct. We’re in the process. We’re trying to figure it out, schedules… My desire would be to direct it.”
As for how the film will fit into the existing X-Men saga, Singer says that it will be set up by Days Of Future Past, which may or may not contain an overt tease for the follow-up…
“I’m still deciding,” says Singer when asked about a potential Apocalypse sting in the forthcoming film. “Something that happens in this movie causes what’s going to happen in that movie.”
“It will also address historical mutantcy,” he continues, “meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It’s something that’s always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers.”
We can’t wait. In the meantime, there’s Days Of Future Past to savour first, with that film set to open in the UK on 22 May 2014.
In other X-news, actor Evan Jonigkeit confirmed to MTV that he’ll be playing Toad in Days Of Future Past. The character was previously played by Ray Park in the first instalment of the franchise, and suffered the indignity of being on the receiving end of one of the most excruciatingly delivered lines of dialogue in superhero movie history (the one about being struck by lightning).
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has released three new posters online, focusing upon our hero’s face-off with principle baddie, Electro.
The three posters are variants on a theme, featuring Jamie Foxx’s villain in all his electricity-wielding glory, and positioning him as Spider-Man’s primary concern in the sequel.
Of course, there are also Rhino and Harry Osborn to be dealt with, although it’s nice to see Electro getting top billing in the promotional material.
Peter Parker’s love life will also presumably get some attention, although none of the promos have given that much focus as yet. Gwen will not be pleased…
Directed by Marc Webb and co-starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Dane DeHaan, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.

Muppets Most Wanted has released a new teaser trailer online, in which our furry friends’ Twitter following proclaim their excitement over the new film.
Using Twitter quotes to promote a movie has become a bizarre phenomenon over recent years, and the Muppets skewer it perfectly with a series of inane online comments that don’t really add up to anything at all.
And if that doesn’t float your boat, there’s also a shot of Kermit standing atop Ricky Gervais’s head. Which is fun!
Take a look at the new trailer, below…
The new film will see the Muppets embark on a globe-trotting heist caper, with human support coming from Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell.
Directed by James Bobin, with another host of all-star cameos expected, Muppets Most Wanted will open in the UK on 28 March 2014.
Edgar Wright has been updating his daily photoblog once more, with an animated Ant-Man image the latest snap to make its way online.
The image is taken from the animated series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and more specifically, an episode in which Scott Lang steals the original Ant-Man suit from Hank Pym.
It’s a choice of image that has led some internet commentators to suggest that it may be Lang rather than Pym that Wright has in mind for his protagonist.
It has long been assumed that Pym could be the leading man, but it’s worth noting that Marvel’s official confirmation of star Paul Rudd didn’t contain any mention of his alter-ego…
In addition to that, Wright had previously expressed an idea for the film way back in 2006, in which Lang would become the lead character.
“You actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60′s,” suggested Wright, “in sort of Tales To Astonish mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang’s story.”
We’ll find out for sure when Ant-Man opens in the US on 31 July 2015, with a UK date to be confirmed.
Another day, another batch of Batman vs. Superman rumours, with the latest updates coming from reputable superhero source, Batman On Film.
The site apparently has the lowdown on the new film, and claims that not only will Lex Luthor be featured, but he won’t be the only villain on display, with another Superman antagonist apparently lined up.
Describing the picture as “truly a Superman film”, the site goes on to speculate that Gal Gadot’s role as Wonder Woman will be an extended cameo, with a view to setting up a solo movie further down the track.
The report predicts her involvement to be comparable to that of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, which would probably make sense, given the top billing of the two eponymous heroes.
Plenty to chew on there until we get some more concrete details from Warner.
Directed by Zack Snyder, and co-starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, Batman Vs. Superman will open world wide on 17 July 2015.
