I am a lover of great deals and this usually leads to me finding game and music bundles on a variety of sites including Humble Bundle and Groupees.
Today I found an awesome bundle on Groupees.com called the VGM & Beyond Bundle. This is a bundle of Video Game Inspired Music; including music created using original Gameboys, 8-bit/Hard Rock Fusions, Electronic-Symphonic works, and various Covers of Video Game music including a chilled out Reggae cover of the Mario Theme.
How can you say no to that?
What’s best about it is you only have to pay at least $1 to get it. But I suggest paying a bit more if you can for this bundle. A percentage of the money from the bundle goes to help a young child in India named Surya who needs to have heart surgery to fix a hole in his heart.

Over 16 years ago on April 21, 1997, NullSoft – nowadays most famous for its ShoutCast software without which tens of thousands of online radio stations could not exist – launched a music player software for Windows that grew to be one of the longest-lasting and possibly the best stand-alone music players around. This year marks the end of an era, as NullSoft announced earlier this week the discontinuation of Winamp and closure of its website and download pages on December 20, 2013.
A simple but powerful music player with lots of supported music formats, a good level of customisability and many features to manage the balance and add effects to your sound, Winamp was once a popular tool for regular music listeners; and maintained a cult following all through its life. In later years, the software was also popularly recommended by many internet radio stations – including us here at Sanitarium.FM – as the best way to listen in due to its strong Shoutcast stream support; and support for the MP3Pro plugin, which allowed MP3s to be streamed at lower bandwidths without losing quality allowing slower connections or large groups of listeners to still enjoy high quality music.
Those who already have their own copy of Winamp – whatever version it might be – or who download the latest release before the site’s official closure on December 20 will be able to continue to use Winamp as long as they wish, as the software is completely standalone; however, it will no longer be available for download directly or supported by the company after this date. It’s also uncertain if other sites will be able to continue offering the software themselves after the closure, as Winamp is copyrighted despite being a free download. Nullsoft have refused to comment on or state the reasons for the closure, but with the rise of internet streaming services and the number of tools now built-in to computers and smartphones for listening to music, it’s possible Winamp was simply seen as an archaic tool now or no longer attracted a strong enough audience.
Long term fans of the Winamp player are already encouraging Nullsoft to reconsider the decision – asking them to either keeping the software and websites alive; or open-source the software so independent developers can continue the work on their behalf, for the benefit of both its users and the broadcasters who have long supported its use, however there has yet to be any sign of movement from the company. However, while it will be sad to lose such a trusted, long-term veteran to the music player scene, there are still many other players available to bridge the gap. Winamp diehards might be interested in checking out jetAudio, a competing Media player with similarly long heritage. jetAudio supports a large number of Winamp’s plugins, even having MP3Pro support built-in; and offers a similar interface – with separated playlists and equaliser windows from the main one, and a “Toolbar” mode that resembles the “Windowshade Mode” of Winamp – which Winamp fans may just find comforting.
The iTunes-integrated radio player will be part of a broader, iOS7 update, according to information delivered by CEO Tim Cook in Cupertino.
A number of important features were confirmed during the announcement, including:
1. iTunes Radio will be available across all iOS devices, including Apple TV and iTunes on PCs. It is part of a far broader iOS7 platform release and concommitant iTunes update.
2. iTunes Radio will imitate Pandora’s artist-driven, personalized stations, but will not be bound by the same restrictions on skipping and consecutive plays (unclear is how liberal the service usage rules will be, however).
3. iTunes Radio will also mimic Pandora’s thumbs-up/thumbs-down functionality to fine tune those stations. Thumbs up translates into “Play more songs like this” while thumbs down is the opposite (not the exact language, but you get the idea).
4. There will also be more than 300 DJ-curated and genre-focused stations to choose from.
5. Audio ads will be inserted after every 15 minutes (or so) of listening, with video ads every hour.
6. Similar to Pandora One, Pandora’s premium tier, iTunes Match subscribers will enjoy ad-free listening.
7. iTunes Radio will feature integrated download buying opportunities for every song, linked to the existing iTunes account and stored credit card.
8. Furthermore, a history of all songs played will be neatly presented, with buy links next to each track.
9. iTunes Radio will be totally Siri-enabled. That includes voice-actived station selection, song identification, station narrowing (‘play more songs like this’) as well as basic play, skip, or pause functionality. Siri will also allow users to place songs into their Wish List for later purchase.
10. Exclusives. Just like iTunes proper, iTunes Radio will have pre-release exclusives weaved into station playlists. That will almost always beat Pandora.
11. All stations will be iCloud-enabled, as well as all Wish Lists. Stations can be stopped on one device, and easily resumed on another.
Other details, not specifically mentioned in the announcement:
12. Apple has directly-licensed major label content for this service, while mostly forcing less favorable terms upon independents. But all content could enjoy upside from paid purchases.
13. The current ‘iTunes Radio’ service, which contains streams to all sorts of web-based stations, is expected to be replaced (not confirmed).
The Dead Good is a German-Italian alternative rock duo based out of Los Angeles and comes across with female attitude and raw sounds.
Formed by Isabella Knight (vocals) and Sonny Lanegan (guitar/vocals), formerly frontman of the electronic rock band White Pulp, it is known for its unique sound with bluesy elements and a hint of punk.
Their music is a personal journey of experiences following the honest and unmodified impressions of two maniacs who fell in love with each other and travel together since then.
The guys from The Dead Good will be joining us live on air this evening, answering you questions from IRC, Facebook and twitter
