Cool Videogame Mods: Star Wars Helmets (XCOM 2)

XCOM 2’s been pretty popular since its release, with most people agreeing that it’s a challenging step up from the previous Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within games. Of course, as with most games with Steam Workshop support if you’re not fully satisfied you can do a little modding of the game to tweak it to something you’ll enjoy more. And an awful lot of those mods are cosmetic pieces.

One such cosmetic mod you might enjoy, especially if you’re a fan of the Star Wars films, is a set of helmets for your troops, based off those of the Stormtroopers and various others seen in the films. Developed by Steam user Platoon you can choose from either the original trilogy’s helmets or the newer First Order inspired ones if you’re in the mood for something iconically Empire-themed, or if that doesn’t take your fancy how about helmets based off those of a Republic Commando, a Tie Fighter pilot, a Flametrooper or even a Clone Trooper Phase 1 helmet? There’s even colour and camo customisation options so that you can make the helmets fit the rest of your soldier’s attire.

Platoon is also working on improving them all the time, at the moment improving the textures of the helmets and is even working on a full-scale armour mod based off the Star Wars armours so you can really feel like you’re playing in a galaxy far, far away.
