Analyst says manufacturer is shrinking in third place, while AMD grows and Intel continues to dominate.

The GPU race is a fierce one, while Intel has successfully held on to the top spot for quite some time, the battle for second has been fought between NVIDIA and AMD for years, but according to a new market research report, NVIDIA's impact is waning as AMD continues to grow.
John Peddie Research says NVIDIA has dropped 2.5% in market share from the last quarter and a massive 8% from last year. Comparatively, AMD's market share grew to 24.8% this year, up from 21.5% last year.
The dip could be a result of Intel's affordable integrated GPUs -- like the Sandy Bridge processors in the new iMacs -- or AMD's Fusion APUs, as well as NVIDIA's recent focus on mobile technology.
NVIDIA established a foothold in the mobile market with their Tegra 2 chipsets, but they'll have to reinforce their efforts in desktop and notebook processors if they want to take back what they've lost to AMD and Intel.
