Sonic is 20, Generations Demo Released

A slew of Sonic stuff hits XBLA and PSN.

As you may have noticed if you've been anywhere near the Internet in the past few days, today marks Sonic the Hedgehog's 20th Anniversary. It was 20 years ago today that the original Sonic the Hedgehog was released on the MegaDrive in the US and Europe. Hands up: who feels old?

SEGA's celebrations are already in full swing. The Sonic Generations demo has been released onto Xbox Live Marketplace. It'll be on the European PSN Store when the update hits later today. SEGA is also releasing a Sonic 20th Anniversary bundle onto PSN today, which includes an XMB theme, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 4 Episode 1 and Sonic Adventure. The publisher has discounted it by 20% as part of the celebration - it's £13.99 (or $20) for the next 20 days.

The Sonic Generations demo expires on 12th July, so best be speedy. It's a one-level demo showing Green Hill Zone and starring Classic Sonic (or Chibi Sonic, as we like to call him.)
