Blizzard Adds New Map To Heroes of The Storm

heroes-of-the-storm-logo-1920x1080

Blizzard are looking to introduce a new map to their latest venture, Heroes of the Storm the company confirmed in its latest blog post.

The map is called Garden Of Terror and it is a three lane battleground that features a very distinctive day and night cycle; when night falls monsters replace the usual mob camps. They are planning

to make full use of their dynamic lighting system, saying:

Garden of Terror Art Garden of Terror Map

“Garden of Terror provides us with the opportunity to feature our dynamic lighting. During the night, we turn down the brightness of your hero’s vision, so the map becomes much darker. We recommend players to stay alert and keep your allies close, night is the perfect time for enemies to strike and take advantage of your reduced visibility.”

It would seem that the day and night cycles will also be controlled by player actions, changing only when all creeps are killed during a particular cycle.

Heroes of the Storm is presently still in alpha and it is a strong contender within the MOBA markets. Wondering what Blizzard will come out with next to keep you rooted to the game? Keep your browser tuned to Sanitarium.fm to find out!

TESO is making its way to Steam!

The Elder Scrolls Online was Bethesda’s attempt to move into the market of the MMORPG game, using the lore of their already well-established Elder Scrolls series. It gained a lot of attention because of the name attached to it, the amount of lore that could already be found in previous Elder Scrolls titles and the idea of roaming through lands from all of those previous games combined into one huge map? All very appealing. And now it’s coming to Steam.

Announced ahead of the Quakecon weekend, the news was tweeted out from their Twitter account today, Bethesda revealed that the game was coming to the popular distribution platform this day with more details to follow later.

The game itself is universally acknowledged as being okay, if not great. A number of patches have fixed some of the worst game-breaking bugs, but like most MMOs it is a lot more fun with friends playing with you. To be honest though, some of that is down to the amount of hype around the game being very hard for a great many games to live up to. That and being a subscription-based model of game can be a big turn-off for some players.

Will you be thinking about getting TESO now that it’s coming to Steam? Tell us in the comments below!

Minecraft Snapshot 14w29b – Time and Space Wrap!

Another optimisation snapshot has been released today by Mojang, taking a completely different path from the last snapshot’s methods of optimisation.

14w29a was released and instead of compressing time and space, this snapshot is said to ‘bend space around time’ in a step that they hope will up framerates in-game by 5 to 10%. It has done this by adding a new option to the video settings, VBO – Vertex Buffer Objects. It is listed as an experimental snapshot with the team interested in hearing mainly about problems relating to the game’s performance. And to further the experimental side of this snapshot, the b version instead ‘bends time around space’ rather than the other way round.

A small update sure, but a little more FPS is never a bad thing, especially for those of us who enjoy screen capturing our adventures and exploits in the world of blocks.

Game Trailer: Gigantic Announce Trailer

Yesterday Seattle-based studio Motiga released the trailer for their new MOBA, Gigantic.

Like typical MOBAs you have something to protect, gigantic Guardians… but unlike most MOBAs the Guardian does not stay put. It actually roams the battlefield too and can fight back against attackers. The trailer presents this very simply showing off some of what we can assume are the playable characters (I love the owl-faced one with the cat) and two Guardians in what is a very pretty art style.

Check out the trailer below!
