Titanfall Gets Co-Op Horde Mode

Titanfall_wallpaper2560x1440

According to Respawn Entertainment, the “biggest” update for Titanfall is on it’s way. And it will include some interesting new additions.

To start with, players that are all about competitive play will now have a Ranked Play mode that will give you challenges and rate you on a 3 star system based on your performance in each match. The real meat of the patch, however, is the new Frontier Defense mode. Frontier defense is a horde mode style wave defense. You can join forces with three other players and fight to defend an objective against waves of AI opponents. Players will be able to change loadouts mid-match at new Loadout Crates as well as raining death from above after death, as they return to the battlefield in a dropship. Respawn promises new, never before seen enemy types in Frontier Defense as well. Suicide Spectres, Nuclear Titans, ranged Mortar Titans and more will do their best to make sure you and your teammates have a bad day.

In addition to the new modes, there are new Titan OS voices coming, as well as Private Match Burn Cards, new Titan Insignias and the ability to bring up a full screen minimap. Two new game modes, Deadly Ground and Marked For Death Pro were also announced. Deadly Ground sees the floor covered in deadly electric fog, forcing pilots to use their wall running skills wisely. Marked For Death Pro is a classic round-based version of Marked For Death. A host of other improvements are being added to the back-end of the game as well.

Are you excited to fall again? Or are you over the giant mech/pilot parkour fest?

Halo Master Chief day one patch is 20Gb and 343 are sorry

343 Industries boss Frank O’Connor has apologised for a 20GB day-one download for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but said it was the only way.

Halo-The-Chief-Collection-Boxart

Speaking via Neogaf to those critical of the day one patch, O’Conner said, “The game is designed to run as a single, unified product, digital is seamless obviously, but we also wanted disc users to have the same experience, without swapping discs.

“Since the bulk of it is MP or MP related, the logic is sound. There will ALSO be a TU in there, but that in itself is a tiny fraction of the content.”

The 20GB is mainly related to multiplayer portion which is obviously important to most, so the developer hopes people will understand.

“For some folks it will be straight up annoying and I both apologize unreservedly for the irritance, and hope that the package and the way it works more than makes up for it

Do I understand the inconvenience and annoyance for some users? Of course. I’m not going to blow smoke or ignore it.

I’ve been playing the whole enchilada for a week now and the ability to sample, jump from aspect to aspect, customize with skulls and playlists has been absolutely addictive and mesmerizing.

I think I would have enjoyed a box set with the same fidelity, but the way it all connects has for me at least, made it more than the sum of its parts.”

Are you looking forward to the Halo: Master Chief Collection?

Evolve’s ‘exclusive’ alpha isn’t so exclusive anymore.

Turtle Rock and 2K have confirmed that the previously ‘Xbox-exclusive’ alpha of their new Evolve will indeed by exclusive to Microsoft’s console. For a day.

There will be a PC alpha and what’s more, it’ll start on October 31st – a day after the Xbox alpha starts. Both alphas can be accessed if you’ve pre-ordered the game and will last through until November 2nd. A full weekend to practice your teamwork and trapping skills or your bloodlust when it comes to competing against your friends and goring them to death. Whatever takes your fancy.

There will be a further Beta for pre-order gamers in January 2015 which we’ve been told by Turtle Rock will also be an Xbox-exclusive. No guarantee that this exclusivity won’t be stretched as the Alpha is being, but all PC-playing fans of this game might as well keep an eye on the news, just in case. The full release of the 4 vs 1 monster hunting co-op game will come sometime in February 2015.

There will be more packs to follow, including many of the most recognisable characters from Doctor Who’s impressive 50 year past. Each skin pack will have six Doctors at least as well as a number of other things and will be released on a regular schedule as the episodes of Series 8 are broadcast.

Rikesh Desai, Digital Entertainment and Games Director at BBC Worldwide UK says “We’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans. Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we’ve created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft.”
