Following swiftly on the heels of their Kinect-free Xbox One, Microsoft have revealed the details of the next Halo game, titles ‘Halo 5: Guardians’.
Due to the next-gen console it is destined to be on, we’re told that this Halo game has been built from the ground-up and with the idea of pushing the Halo experience to new heights by utilising the better hardware of the Xbox One and telling even greater stories to really show off the platform’s potential. And why not? Halo is very much a part of the fabric of the Xbox, having been there since the original Xbox as a launch title.
They’re promising that as a game Halo 5 will be much bigger and better than Halo 4. Right now details are scarce, but with E3 around the corner and Microsoft going to show off their new toys it’s very likely that a whole lot of them will be emerging very soon to the joy of Halo-fans everywhere.
It may seem hard to believe, but as of tomorrow (15th May 2014), Diablo 3 will be two years old. Cake and singing songs just isn’t in the style of the popular dungeon-based Hack-and-Slasher, however. Nor is a single day of celebration enough. No, Blizzard has something better in mind.
To celebrate the game’s second anniversary and the community that made it all possible, Starting tomorrow and running until May 22, players who log in to defend Sanctuary will receive double Rift Fragments as well as a +100% boost to their chance to find Legendary items.
While the buffs will apply to all characters; and will stack with other buffs a Player may have to add further bonuses to their drop rate etc, those with a console version of the game are unfortunately excluded – this event is for PC & Mac only. However, as Console releases already have better drop rates than the PC equivalent, this is hardly a big loss. What MIGHT be a big loss is the timing, as many Diablo 3 players are complaining the week-long event falls into a period where many students are completing major exams – thus limiting the time they have to take advantage. However, the most hardcore of Diablo 3 players are already clearing their schedule to make room for a whole week of non-stop action.
Whether you’re a casual or hardcore Diablo 3 player, looks like Diablo’s demons better prepare for a lot more bloodshed than usual.
People seem divided on the new Wolfenstein game. Some fans are looking forward to the return to the return to the roots of the franchise in a story-driven game, while others are left unimpressed by the way the game looks and has played in demos so far. One thing about the game that is sure to not divide opinion though is the amount of memory needed to install the game on a computer though: 50GB.
The specs that Wolfenstein: The New Order will need from each platform it’s being released for have been made public but while most of the specs seem pretty normal for such a game the huge amount of memory has caught the most attention for good reason. Large installs are becoming more common, with games like Titanfall also taking up many gigs simply through having uncompressed audio files. 50GB does seem like an awful lot though, which leads you to wonder what it could possibly need all that space for…
Call of Duty being the unstoppable juggernaut of a franchise it is, it was only a matter of time before its first new-gen iteration was revealed. Using the tagline “A New Era”, Call of Duty’s official Facebook page has for several weeks been touting a worldwide announcement for the next Call of Duty title, which we now know to be called Advanced Warfare, for modern generation consoles such as XBox One and PS4.
That Global Reveal was scheduled yesterday for the 4th of May; and the intention was for the company to reveal the game’s title and trailers for each region on the day. Unfortunately, one of those trailers got leaked on Facebook a little too early – the UK Trailer was discovered earlier today and was confirmed by Call of Duty as legitimate, with this message posted on their Facebook page:
This was scheduled for Sunday but it just leaked, so why wait? Here’s the first look at Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. #ANewEra begins now!
The Trailer consists of what is claimed to be footage of XBox One gameplay, and shows off the new gen graphics; details some possible actions; and offers an insight into the game’s story via select FMV sequences. I’m sure you’re waiting to see it yourself – so check the Trailer below, courtesy their official YouTube channel:
Fans of SyFy’s series and Trion’s game Defiance rejoice. The MMORPG version of the science fiction epic is going free to play on PC and PS3. Thats right, no more subscription fees to stop you from loading up your guns and stims as you dive back into the Arkfalls. Not so coincidentally, the move to free to play (June 4th for PC and July 15th for PS3), coincides with the launch of Season 2 of the show (puns intended).
F2P is great you might say. But what about players who purchased the game? Bought add-ons from the store? Shelled out cash for DLC and season passes? Well, worry not dear reader. If you bought the game, DLC or items from the store it all stays with you. In addition, you’ll be getting the new Patron Pass “subscriber” level free for a month. If you choose to buy Patron access after that, it will be on an opt-in basis for 15,30,60 and 90 day times via one time codes/items bought in the store and applied to your account.
The team at Trion has also added a new tier of boosts to the store, including bigger XP boosts and weapon skill boosts, as well as higher score boosts for world events. However, the developers are being smart with the revamps to the system. Defiance has always been a game where gear and skill matter the most. To that end, Paradise Patrons will get a grab bag of stuff every week as well as additional personal boosts for their daily login rewards. BUT, the won’t get any free gear. So, while there are perks to being a Paradise Patron, it isn’t a pay for power type of thing. If anything, Trion Worlds seems determined to keep Defiance a fun and balanced experience as they move to the F2P model.
