Sales of Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry have left Capcom disappointed. It’s been reported that Capcom had hoped to shift around 2 million copies of the game by March 2013, however that figure has now been cut by?800,000 units to 1.2 million.
The sales are very disappointing for Capcom, which saw just 110,429 copies being sold in Japan on the game’s opening week, which is only around half of what Devil May Cry 4 managed in its opening week.
It’s not the first time Ninja Theory has released a pretty decent title only for it to be met with disappointing sales (Enslaved). To be honest though we are not sure what else the studio could do. DMC: Devil May Cry is a pretty decent reboot. Maybe people are just tiring of the franchise or maybe it was a reboot too far.
What do you think?
