Here’s a bit of interesting news – producer Atsushi Inaba of Platinum Games has confirmed that the studio is working on an IP that they fully own. The first one of its kind for Platinum actually.

The news was revealed at a keynote address at Japan’s BitSummit event. The game is currently in early stages with Inaba saying that the IP is “formless” right now, and the studio has hired a new director to head it up who they hope will grow alongside the project. Because of this and many other projects Platinum has going on right now, the studio will no longer be keeping up with its usual ‘one game a year’ schedule.

Platinum is mostly known for working alongside other studios such as SquareEnix and Sony on other IPs and though they have worked on original games like Bayonetta and Vanquish, this will mark the first time that Platinum has had complete ownership over the IP they’re working on.

So far we know little else about the IP, but given Platinum’s history of games (like Bayonetta as mentioned above), I bet gamers are eagerly awaiting to find out just what is it they have in store for us.
