Fullscreen acquire popular digital studio Rooster Teeth

It was announced earlier that Fullscreen, a large Youtube MCN has recently acquired the digital studio Rooster Teeth.

Fullscreen, itself recently acquired by Otter Media (a joint venture between AT&T and the Chernin Group) have said they want to expand Rooster Teeth’s large audience and content production capabilities with both live and animated content. The studio itself was formed in 2003, beginning with the popular long-running machnima/animation Red vs Blue based off the Halo franchise and has since moved into the production of many other things, such as animated show RWBY, a number of podcasts and a successful second part of the company under the Achievement Hunter umbrella. A yearly event called RTX is also held each year in Texas to celebrate all things Rooster Teeth.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, however the studio will continue to run as a subsidiary in Austin, with Matt Hullum remaining the CEO of the company and ‘Burnie’ Burns remaining as its creative director.

“With Fullscreen, we look forward to continuing that tradition in even bigger and better ways,” Burns said in a statement. “Matt and I are excited about the opportunities this alliance will present for our creators and all the amazing content it will empower them to produce for our audience.
