TwitchCon is announced

Twitch had been teasing big news this week, and a few days ago they revealed exactly the nature of the news – they’re holding their own event which is called TwitchCon this September.

Revealed on Twitch Weekly, TwitchCon will happen at the end of the month on the 25th and the 26th. The location is the Moscone West Convention Centre in San Francisco and while there’s been no further information released or revealed at the moment a website has been set up at TwitchCon.com and a Twitter account at @TwitchConSF. The latter can be used to keep up to date with updates while exbititors can sign up for the event on the former.

In a statement about the event Twitch CEO Emmett Shear said, “Twitch broadcasters have the most passionate fans, so we want to create an amazing experience where they can come together in person. TwitchCon will be an opportunity for the entire community—broadcasters, game developers, viewers, and us—to play and learn together.”

Twitch is a streaming website especially for gamers which was founded in 2011; and recently after rumours of Google interest last year it was acquired by Amazon instead for $1 billion.
