Triforce Making Replica Fallout Alien Blaster

A little while back we had a Fallout 4 figurine released that was beautiful as hell, but quite costly. Now another piece of Fallout 4 collectible is being released with another big price tag – but this time it’s one of the weapons that’s appeared in some form in every main-line Fallout game – the Alien Blaster.

Made by Triforce who have done other video game weapon replicas like XCOM 2’s beam pistol, the Fallout Alien Blaster is made of polystone and is a 15” replica of the Zetan laser pistol that acts as the most powerful energy weapon in the game. It also comes with working LED effects which I know a good deal of you will think is awesome. I certainly do.

Triforce are currently taking pre-orders with a $100 deposit needed to reserve one and the full price tag being about $400, which is the same as the afore-mentioned figurine that came out before. Fallout 4’s blaster can be found in a crashed UFO east of Oberland station, or the Hub’s Alien Blaster which is in the Nuka-World DLC. Complete the ‘Trip to the Stars’ quest to get it.

The props are expected to start shipping sometime in Q1 of 2018. Long time to wait, but if you do pre-order it I bet you’ll be excited until you get it. I know I’d want to get a display set up for it asap.

Kickstarter Gaming Round-Up: May 1st

It’s time for your weekly look at gaming campaigns from Kickstarter!

First of all updates on ones we’ve previously covered, and this week pretty much all of the ones I’ve previously covered have some sort of progress report to put up. An awful lot of it isn’t good news though, and many of our previously covered campaigns are left with little time and a lot of money to make up. These include Forged of Blood, Organism8, The Unique Adventure, Hellpoint (which could still make it, but we’ll see), Super Plexis and War of Velana – all with a lot of goal to make up and between 56 hours and 9 days to make it up. Not a lot of time. One of the other campaigns has also concluded, but not a success. This is Attack on Kitten, and the devs have called it a ‘learning experience’. They’ve not given up either and have set up a mailing list to keep fans informed of their progress.

However there are also some campaigns doing very well, to the point that they are funded without having finished yet. These are Forsaken Castle, OUTBUDDIES and Maximum Apocalypse. There are also two campaigns that have concluded successfully, and these are Pawarumi and our friends over at Gametee with their Finest Leather Notebooks for Gamers. I personally backed the latter a little and I can tell you – they’re over the moon for the amount they’ve made. Can’t wait to see the results from all these campaigns.

OtterBash!

First up, we have a multiplayer party game using one of the few cute creatures not yet seen in many video games – otters.

The game is a 4-player and by the looks of it has all the colourful set-up you’d expect form a party game. The point of it is simply, control your otter, choose your weapon, fight your opponents using them. And because it’s a party game, they’re silly weapons too – eight of them with the first three of them mentioned on the campaign page being the portable oven (yikes!), taco boomerang and tar balloon.

OtterBash has a target of CA$ 150 which isn’t a lot to ask, and they’ve made CA$ 24 already so far with 19 days to go.

Trouble For Hire

Next up we have a tabletop RPG game with a difference – one player character and many GMs.

Trouble For Hire follows one man – Ruben Carlos Ruiz – as he journeys through the American Southwest who is a smuggler, courier and wheelman. Everyone else involved plays something else that interacts with Ruiz on his journey, from a villain standing in the way to the progress along the road. Interesting idea, and if co-operation can happen with a bunch of player characters there’s no reason this couldn’t work too.

Trouble For Hire has made $754 of its $5,000 goal, and has 28 more days to run.

Ashes of Creation

Third, we have an MMO game that says it has ‘no factions’.

Describing itself as an “open-world, non-faction based, no P2W, high-fantasy MMORPG” the developers say that they aim to “change the face of the genre”. Bold claim. The game says that players have a responsibility for all of ‘civilization’ in the game and that means that players must come together to build settlements and make decisions on whether neighbouring cities are friendly or hostile – maybe getting too close. Maybe there are no in-game factions, but I bet the players will form some pretty quickly.

Ashes of Creation has 31 more days to run and has made $470,125 of its $750,000 goal.

“The Watchmaker” – Time’s Collapse

Finally we have a game that involves time as a central piece.

Alexander is here to repair the large clock mechanism he finds himself in, but time is out of control and Alex must not only find out what happened, who sabotaged the clock and why he is there – but also fight against time itself as the out of control time causes him to age at an accelerated rate. The game is a third-person and involves a good deal of puzzle-solving which is as you’d expect from a game that makes good use of a time mechanic.

The Watchmaker has a $30,000 goal and just 3 more days to make it. It’s raised just over half of that at $15,770.

Worlds Adrift Closed Beta Is Delayed

Bossa Studios, known for their games like Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread, have just announced that their next game Worlds Adrift might be a little bit delayed. Or at least the closed beta stage is, which will push everything back a little bit as a knock-on effect.

A video update from the studio delivers the news and puts it down to wanting to fix issues that came up during the closed alpha test for the game. Luke Williams, a designer says that alpha 6 “highlighted a lot of shortcomings” that Bossa “were not happy to release with.” While they’ve since managed to fix some of these shortcomings, such as a lack of metal on starting islands and the rather alarming amount of screen shake thunderstorms were causing, other issues will take a little longer – thus the closed beta will be delayed as a result.

Coming in the beta will be more character customisation options, along with ship frames now being salvageable to stop the skies being littered with old ships. By the way this also includes other player’s ship frames if they’re just abandoned, so there’s something you can do with your time – tidying the skies and making something from it too probably.

For more details about what is scheduled to come in the Worlds Adrift closed beta, check out the developer diary below for all the information. Right now it seems like the the delay should only be a matter of weeks, rather than months, so expect the beta to release sometime in the summer.

King Of The Kill Patch Fixes Stray Bullets, Tidies UI

Developers Daybreak have laid out what’s coming next for H1Z1: King of the Kill with is upcoming patch. It focuses mainly on improvements to general ‘quality-of-life’ tweaks, including a declutter of the UI, refinement of the Arena map and hit registration being optimised.

That last one is most important for players, as this is one game where a single bullet means the difference between life and death. So having your bullets go where they’re supposed to is needed and players were reporting issues like somehow managing to hit their driver when shooting out of the passenger window of a vehicle. Daybreak had first to work with the server and introduce revamps to improve overall performance before they were able to get into the backend and mess around with the hit detection code. These should not only help bullet go where they’re aimed, but stop you from being killed by teleporting enemies thanks to desyncs. They’ve also taken the chance to improve the shotgun, making it shoot 17 projectiles in a systematic pattern rather than just 8 in a random spread.

The UI’s main improvement has been to move the crafting and inventory menus onto one screen now, which when combined with players having both locked and unlocked crates in the same place will hopefully ensure managing your inventory will be much quicker too.

Arena map-wise, interiors have been brightened up slightly to help with vision and lootable items will now have a small outline to help players identify what can and can’t be looted when time is of the essence. There has also been three new Points of Interest added to the Pleasant Valley area.

These changes are now live on the Test Server for the game, which is currently in Steam Early Access for $19.99/£14.99.
